And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light... a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. But Jesus came and touched them, saying,
“Rise, and have no fear.” (Matthew 17)

28 - BURNING OF THE PALMS - 5pm before the Pancake Dinner
This is a brief, prayerful time to burn last year's palms that will become the ashes for the beginning of Lent, our penitential season before Easter. The symbolism is rich, reminding us that our rejoicing in Christ, as on Palm Sunday, soon turns to selfishness, sin and our need to face it for what it is. "From dust we came, and to dust we shall return." Here are some helpful links regarding Ash Wednesday and Lent.
Date and details to come!
Generosity is the heart of God to and through us.
If Village Church is your community of faith, we ask that you help provide for the obvious financial needs that make word, sacrament and thriving community possible week in and week out - for the glory of God and the good of others.
