Every Monday - Thursday this Summer, June 10-August 8

This summer we are excited to be partnering with Greenville County Schools Summer Feeding Program. This program provides free, nutritious lunches to all children (ages 0-18) in our county, regardless of where they attend school. GCS has identified the neighborhoods surrounding Village Church as a prime location to host this program. In our neighboring apartments on Buff Street alone, forty-two children qualify for free or reduced lunches during the school year.

Since Village Church moved to Sans Souci, it has been our desire to be a known and trusted neighbor - ROOTED in our community. We believe this partnership with Greenville County Schools Summer Feeding Program is a great way to do just that. If you’ve been around the church on a sunny Saturday or anytime this past summer, you’ll notice that our front yard is a magnet for kids looking to for a place to play and hang out—its one of the only green spaces in the area. In May it will get spruced up with a fence, picnic tables, and soccer goals. We are grateful for this resource and mission field.

Beginning June 10, every Monday - Thursday until August 8 at 11:30am, the GCS Summer Food Truck will make a stop in our parking lot. The school system will provide marketing materials, food, and staff to serve. We have committed to provide a place and at least one volunteer or staff to be present. This also gives us an amazing opportunity to have volunteers and families come out and engage with our community. Some other summer feeding sites have a rotating schedule of activities ranging from organized sports, crafts, music, dance etc. Our programming will be driven by the skills and interests of our volunteers. Prayerfully consider how you and your family may want to be part of this program we are calling Lunch Buddies. We are looking for one or two visionary leaders to really drive and organize this effort as well as a collection of volunteers and families who want to come hang out at the church for an hour or two every week or a few times over the summer to help Village fulfill our mission of being Rooted in our community.
