June Happenings / Pentecost

“The dove descending breaks the air
With flame of incandescent terror
Of which the tongues declare
The one discharge from sin and error.
The only hope, or else despair
Lies in the choice of pyre or pyre-
To be redeemed from fire by fire.

Who then devised the torment? Love.
Love is the unfamiliar Name
Behind the hands that wove
The intolerable shirt of flame
Which human power cannot remove.
We only live, only suspire
Consumed by either fire or fire.”
― T.S. Eliot, Four Quartets

This Sunday: Pentecost

As part of our celebration liturgy on Pentecost, we will take the time to bless the work you are doing in the world to bring shalom through the power of the Holy Spirit.Your work is Church work.  So... Bring a stapler. A diaper. A paintbrush. A wrench. A notebook. Your computer. Your client list. Bring a symbolic something that matters to your life in the trenches of the world God loves.

Also, Rev. Cameron, Joy and Koryn Robinson join us this Sunday! What a gift on such a blessed day!

This Thursday: Newcomer Dessert Drop-In

Join us for informal gathering for any and everyone who has come along in the last few months or so. It’s a drop-in, but will last from 7pm until 8:30. Come for a few minutes or stay the whole time! This is a great opportunity to get to know one another better and ask any burning questions about Village Church, our worship and our mission. We would LOVE to have you, whoever you are. If you’re an “oldcomer" but would like to hang out, you’re welcome, too! If you came to the Newcomer’s gathering last month, feel free to come again!

JUNE 25 - Baptism & BBQ at the Lake

We're excited about a great day together on Saluda Lake at the Friesen's lakefront home. There, we will share in the baptism rite, a wonderful BBQ lunch and tons of fun. More details are forthcoming in a separate email. Meats will be provided, but it's pot luck. Please bring a COLD SIDE DISH or DESSERT IN YOUR COOLER to feed 8-10 people (salad, potato salad, cole slaw, bean salad, jello with stuff floating in it, etc.)

If you or your child are ready for baptism, please contact Rev. Cain at seth@villagegreenville.com. We will immerse older candidates, but will have a font there for babies. Invite your family!

All the other June happenings are here on our website!
